In war and crisis situations, the Finnish Defence Forces needs an ability to dispose of explosives at the bottom of the sea and on the ground. These technically demanding and lengthy course entities are not ones that can be completed in a minimum of time, so the needed competence should already be available. Captain (N) Sauli Rimmanen will assume the duties of Commander of the Coastal Fleet on 1 February 2025. The modernization of four Hamina-class fast-attack missile craft (Hamina, Tornio, Hanko ja Pori) is complete and the vessels are in operational use in the Navy. The fast-attack craft’s mid-life upgrade was carried out during 2018-2023.
