The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 2024 environmental response exercise from 26 to 29 August 2024. The exercise is organized in Lithuania, in the port of Klaipeda and on the coast.

The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 22 environmental response exercise from 22 to 25 August 2022. The Exercise is organized in Germany, in the sea area off Warnemunde.

The Finnish Defence Forces will provide executive assistance to the police in connection with the investigation of cable damage in the Gulf of Finland, including through the Navy´s capabilities such as the MHC Vahterpää, the auxiliary vessel Hylje and divers, other vessels and personnel, as well as compiling the recognized maritime picture and analysis of related data.

8.5.2026 | The commander of The Bundeswehr Joint Force Command, Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, along with a delegation, visited Finland on 7-8 May 2026. The host of the visit was the Finnish Defence Forces Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Lieutenant General Kari Nisula.

Exercise Freezing Winds 23 led by the Finnish Navy will come to an end on Friday 1 December. The exercise involved protecting the Finnish coast and maritime traffic by conducting naval operations in cooperation between the Finnish Army, Navy and Air Force, Allies and Partners.

18.5.2026 | The northern part of the Ramstein Flag 26 live-fly exercise will take place in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark from 8 to 19 June 2026.

22.10.2025 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Marine Rotational Force - Europe, led by Combat Logistics Battalion 6, are arriving to Finland and will train together with Nyland Brigade until the end of December. The detachment will have a strength of around 350 Marines by the beginning of November and will be stationed in Nyland Brigade.

25.8.2025 | The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 2025 environmental response exercise from 25 to 28 August 2025. The Exercise is organized on the coast of Poland.

22.4.2026 | Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, (SNMG1), will conduct a scheduled port visit in Turku arriving on 22 Apr 2026, Commanded by Commodore Maryla Ingham, Royal Navy, on the flagship German frigate FGS Sachsen and Portuguese frigate NRP Dom Francisco de Almeida. The vessels will moor at Turku harbor.

The Finnish, French and Swedish navies will rehearse countering subsurface threats off the Swedish west coast from 13 to 20 March 2024. The Coastal Fleet will participate in the Marex Spring 24 exercise with Hamina-class missile boat Pori. In addition, two Finnish officers will be deployed on board Swedish corvettes for the duration of the exercise.

The Finnish, German, Norwegian and Swedish navies will rehearse anti-surface warfare and air defense off the Swedish south coast from 7 to 18 October 2024.

The Finnish Defence Forces will deploy staff officers to the European Union’s Naval Force EUNAVFOR Operation Aspides established in February 2024, and to the US-led Operation Prosperity Guardian launched in December 2023, both of them active in the Red Sea and its adjacent areas. The objective of the operations is to secure free and safe navigation in the Red Sea.

The autumn’s main exercise Freezing Winds 24, led by the Finnish Navy, will be held in southern Finland and in the Northern Baltic Sea from 18 to 29 November 2024. In addition to the Finnish Navy, troops from the Finnish Army and Air Force, the Logistics Command and the Border Guard will participate in the international naval exercise. A United Stated Marine Corps unit will participate in the NATO-led Baltic Sentry mission, co-operating in Finland for about a month.

NATO’s Standing Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1) has arrived in Helsinki for a scheduled port visit, as part of its continued operations in the Baltic Sea.
