12.5.2026 | Försvarsalliansen Natos gemensamma operativa doktrinverkstad arrangeras för första gången i Helsingfors den 12–14 maj 2026. Målet är att förbättra interoperabiliteten mellan Natos medlemsländer genom att standardisera gemensamma doktriner samt den tillhörande terminologin. Alla Natos 32 medlemsländer, delar av Natos kommandostruktur samt representanter från Natos kompetenscenter har bjudits in till evenemanget.

Kustflottan organiserar de militära FM-tävlingarna i fotboll i Åbo 27-29.8.2024. Matcherna spelas på konstgräsplanerna i Kuppis idrottspark. Bronsmatchen och finalen spelas på Veritas Stadion. Åtta lag från Försvarsmaktens olika organisationer deltar i tävlingen.

De Nordiska sjökadettdagarna (Nordic Cadet Meeting, NOCA) ordnas i Åbo 7. – 11.8.2024. NOCA är ett idrotts- och seminarieevenemang som varje år turvis ordnas i de nordiska länderna.

Kommodor Sauli Rimmanen tar emot uppgiften som kommendör för Kustflottan 1.2.2025. Rimmanen övergår till uppgiften från Marinstaben där han verkat som personalchef. Kommendörsbytet ordnas 30.1.2025 på basen i Pansio.

12.5.2026 | The NATO defence alliance's joint operational doctrine working meeting will be held for the first time in Helsinki from 12 to 14 May 2026. The purpose is to enhance interoperability among NATO member countries by standardising common doctrines and the associated terminology. All 32 NATO member countries, parts of NATO's command organisation, and representatives from NATO's Centres of Excellence have been invited to the event.

In November-December 2022, the Finnish Navy conducted a process to recruit reservists for the EU Battlegroup for 2024. The recruitment process has moved forward, and this week, a test and selection event will be organized for reservists invited based on applications at the Coastal Brigade in Upinniemi. The training will be launched in the summer 2023, and the standby period of the battlegroup will last from January through June 2024.

7.6.2019 | Sjöstridsövningen Silja avslutas 7.6. Övningens returmarscher syns i trafiken på fredag. Övningen utvecklade på ett omfattande sätt marinens beredskap och förmåga att verkställa marina operationer, vid behov med stöd av en internationell trupp.

2.1.2018 | Marinens minfartyg Uusimaa har under det senaste året stått i beredskap inom ramen för den truppool som utgör en kompletterande del av Natos snabbinsatsstyrka (Nato Response Force, NRF). Det här beredskapsskedet avslutades den 31 december 2017.

In war and crisis situations, the Finnish Defence Forces needs an ability to dispose of explosives at the bottom of the sea and on the ground. These technically demanding and lengthy course entities are not ones that can be completed in a minimum of time, so the needed competence should already be available. Hiring high-quality professional units on a permanent basis would, however, take up a big slice out of the defence budget.

Nordic Cadet Meeting (NOCA) will be held in Turku on 7-11 August 2024. NOCA is an annual sports and seminar event for naval cadets, organized by each Nordic country in alternate years.

Captain (N) Sauli Rimmanen will assume the duties of Commander of the Coastal Fleet on 1 February 2025. Rimmanen will transfer to the task from Navy Command Finland where he has been serving as Chief of Staff. The change of command ceremony will be held at Pansio Base on 30 January 2025.

The Finnish Navy committed Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels MHC Katanpää and MHC Purunpää to the Nato Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool for 2022. Participating in the NATO Response Force, NRF, enhances the capability and interoperability of the Finnish Navy’s vessels and troops and its readiness to commit units to naval crisis management missions.

2.11.2022 | Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) is to visit Helsinki 4 – 7 November 2022. Upon leaving from Helsinki SNMG1 is to participate in a joint exercise organized by the Finnish Coastal Fleet.

2.1.2018 | The one year readiness phase of FNS Uusimaa as part of the NATO Response Force (NRF) pool ended on 31 December 2017.
