27.4.2026 | Kainuu Brigade will lead several exercises in Kainuu during May. The exercises will be executed primarily in Vuosanka and its immediate surroundings.

The Coastal Fleet is participating in the international BALTIC MCM 1/24 mine countermeasures exercise in Germany from 11 to 21 March 2023.

25.8.2025 | The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 2025 environmental response exercise from 25 to 28 August 2025. The Exercise is organized on the coast of Poland.

NATO’s Standing Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1) has arrived in Helsinki for a scheduled port visit, as part of its continued operations in the Baltic Sea.

Coastal Fleet participates in the international mine countermeasures exercise Dynamic Move 2023 in Belgium from 23 January to 3 February.

In November-December 2022, the Finnish Navy conducted a process to recruit reservists for the EU Battlegroup for 2024. The recruitment process has moved forward, and this week, a test and selection event will be organized for reservists invited based on applications at the Coastal Brigade in Upinniemi. The training will be launched in the summer 2023, and the standby period of the battlegroup will last from January through June 2024.

The Finnish Navy rehearsed with the United States, Sweden and Estonia in the Northern Baltic Sea from 10 to 11 August.

25.8.2025 | The Finnish Navy deploys MHC Katanpää to join Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One for three months starting from 25th August 2025. This is the Finnish Navy’s planned participation in the Alliance’s peace time collective defence missions.

26.5.2023 | A multinational Task Group of tree NATO warships will arrive in Helsinki 27th of May. The visit is a part of the group’s planned activities in the Baltic Sea area, where a strong maritime NATO presence is important for the security of the Alliance.

1.6.2022 | The Finnish Navy participated in the Baltic Protector exercise in the Northern Baltic Sea in international waters on 31 May 2022.

23.5.2022 | Mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää and FGS Sachsen of the German Navy rehearse together   in the Gulf of Finland in international waters 23-24 May.

4.4.2022 | Two Hamina-class fast-attack craft of the Finnish Navy will take part in the Marinens vårövning exercise organised by the Swedish Navy 4-8 April 2022 off the east coast of Sweden.

24.8.2020 | Kustflottans minjaktfartyg Vahterpää deltar tillsammans med Natos stående minröjningsstyrka i övningen Sandy Coast 2020 vid Belgiens kust under perioden 1 - 10.9.2020. Det rör sig om en multinationell övning som leds av Belgien och där målsättningen är att träna minröjning i en krävande verksamhetsmiljö till havs.

25.4.2022 | Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) visits Turku 25 - 27 April 2022. After the visit the SNMCMG1 will participate in an exercise lead by the Coastal Fleet in the Archipelago Sea 28 - 29 April 2022. The exercise prepares the Katanpää-class Mine Hunters for the upcoming NRF readiness rotation activities.

1.6.2021 | The Navy will participate in the BALTOPS 2021 maritime exercise 4 - 18 June 2021 with two vessel in the Baltic Sea.

20.8.2021 | The Finnish Navy's Multipurpose Vessel Louhi and Oil Recovery Vessel Hylje will participate in the international Balex Delta exercise in the Gulf of Finland near Kotka from 24 to 25 August 2021.

21.8.2020 | The Coastal Fleet’s oil recovery vessel Halli will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 20 Oil Spill Response Exercise in the waters of the Estonian coast on 26 August 2020. 

17.12.2020 | The year of the Navy’s Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels in the NATO Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool will come to an end on 31 December 2020. Nyland Brigade's coastal jaeger troops' period in the same pool will end at the same time.

24.8.2020 | The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää will take part in the Sandy Coast 2020 exercise off the Belgian coast from 1 to 10 September alongside the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1. This is a multinational exercise led by Belgium with the objective of training mine countermeasures skills in a challenging maritime operating environment.
