22.10.2025 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Marine Rotational Force - Europe, led by Combat Logistics Battalion 6, are arriving to Finland and will train together with Nyland Brigade until the end of December. 6.7.2026 | An international naval mines cooperation (NMC) project concerning the common procurement of naval mines has advanced to the framework agreement phase. As a representative of the lead nation, the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command has signed a contract in 25.6. with the Finnish company Forcit, on procuring the Blocker Influence Mine for the participating countries. So far Finland, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania and Norway have joined the project.

30.6.2026 | On Monday 6 July 2026, the conscripts of the summer contingent will report for military service in the Army. 9700 recruits will begin their military service in Army brigade-level units. Karelia Brigade, Pori Brigade and Kainuu Brigade will receive the largest numbers of recruits.

21.5.2026 | The second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette to be built for the Navy has been launched in Rauma. The vessel was moved from the construction hall to the dock basin where the building and outfitting of the vessel will continue. A festive launch ceremony was celebrated in Rauma on 21 May.

2.4.2026 | For several years, the Navy has been developing a comprehensive capability to produce virtual exercises to train soldiers with better skills. This time, the Navy is piloting a procedure exercise for the virtual training environment for trainees to practise situations involving damages on a vessel in a setting that simulates reality.

2.3.2026 | Offshore patrol craft Tursas will be handed over to the Defence Forces by the Border Guard as part of new Turva-class offshore patrol vessels being introduced into service.

17.10.2024 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps, Marine Rotational Force unit, led by Combat Logistics Battalion 8, has arrived in Finland and will train together with Nyland Brigade until the end of December. The detachment with a strength of 200 Marines will be stationed in Nyland Brigade and it will mainly operate within the Brigade´s training areas.

26.10.2023 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 has arrived in Finland for a time of approximately two months. The detachment will train together with Nyland Brigade from the end of October until the beginning of December. This stay is a continuation of our cooperation last year, when a smaller unit from the same battalion trained together with Nyland Brigade in the autumn.

17.5.2023 | Exercise Atrain 23, led by the Coastal Brigade, will be held 26 May - 2 June 2023. The exercise activities will concentrate on the coast of the Gulf of Finland and the sea areas between the Hanko Peninsula and Hamina.

6.11.2018 | Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö and the Chief of Defence Jarmo Lindberg inspected Northern Coast 18 exercise in Hanko peninsula area on the 6th of November. Exercise started on the 25th of October and will finish on Thursday the 8th of November and is hosted by the Finnish Navy.

21.9.2020 | The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää continues the autumn NRF training period alongside the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) in the Baltic Sea until the 4 October before returning to Finland.

11.9.2020 | Coastal Fleet’s Minelayer Uusimaa will take part in the Sea Surveillance Exercise led by the Swedish Navy 14 - 16.9.2020. The exercise takes place in the archipelago off Stockholm and in the Northern Baltic Sea.
