Welcome to the Finnish Navy!
The In Service with us section provides information for the new recruits entering military service and Navy reservists.
The Navy is one of the three services of the Finnish Defence Forces. A total of approximately 3,500 conscripts and women carrying out voluntary military service complete their military service in the Navy each year.
Most of those serving in the Navy carry out their service in challenging and versatile tasks in the coastal units, serving in either the Coastal Brigade in Upinniemi or in the Uusimaa (Nyland) Brigade in Dragsvik (Raasepori), which provides conscript training in Swedish.
The naval units are trained in the Coastal Fleet, which has service locations in Pansio, Turku, and Upinniemi, Kirkkonummi. The naval officer and naval Reserve Officer Course training, and the continuing training for the naval staff is given by the Naval Academy, located in Suomenlinna.
The Navy has a total of approximately 1,400 employees, of whom about 1,200 are military staff and slightly over 200 work in different civilian tasks.
