4.9.2026 | Chief of Defence Command Finland, Lieutenant General Vesa Virtanen visited Boden, Sweden 2–3 September 2026. The topic of the visit was Finnish-Swedish defence cooperation (FISE), particularly from the perspective of Forward Land Forces Finland (FLF Finland).

17.10.2024 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps, Marine Rotational Force unit, led by Combat Logistics Battalion 8, has arrived in Finland and will train together with Nyland Brigade until the end of December. The detachment with a strength of 200 Marines will be stationed in Nyland Brigade and it will mainly operate within the Brigade´s training areas.

4.8.2026 | The keel of the fourth Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette was laid at the Rauma shipyard on Tuesday 4 August 2026. The keel laying ceremony is a traditional milestone of symbolic importance in the construction of a vessel which marks the concrete start of the assembly of the blocks of a warship.

21.5.2026 | The second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette to be built for the Navy has been launched in Rauma. The vessel was moved from the construction hall to the dock basin where the building and outfitting of the vessel will continue. A festive launch ceremony was celebrated in Rauma on 21 May.

2.4.2026 | For several years, the Navy has been developing a comprehensive capability to produce virtual exercises to train soldiers with better skills. This time, the Navy is piloting a procedure exercise for the virtual training environment for trainees to practise situations involving damages on a vessel in a setting that simulates reality.

2.3.2026 | Offshore patrol craft Tursas will be handed over to the Defence Forces by the Border Guard as part of new Turva-class offshore patrol vessels being introduced into service.

26.10.2023 | A detachment from the United States Marine Corps, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 has arrived in Finland for a time of approximately two months. The detachment will train together with Nyland Brigade from the end of October until the beginning of December. This stay is a continuation of our cooperation last year, when a smaller unit from the same battalion trained together with Nyland Brigade in the autumn.
