Commander of the United States Sixth Fleet to visit Finland

The commander of the United States Sixth Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO, Vice Admiral Thomas E. Ishee will visit the Finnish Navy on Monday, 19 June.

Vice Admiral Ishee will familiarize himself with the activities of the Finnish Navy Command and the Coastal Fleet. During his visit Ishee and his host will discuss the bilateral cooperation between Finland and the United States and the security situation in the Baltic region.

The close cooperation of the Finnish Navy with the United States will continue through NATO as well as bilaterally. The common objective of the Finnish Navy and the United States Navy is to maintain the Baltic Sea as a stable, predictable and safe area, which will be open for sea-traffic.

The visit will be hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Navy, rear admiral Jori Harju.
