Coastal Fleet consists of Headquarters and four squadrons: 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron, 6th and 7th Surface Warfare Squadrons and 8th Service Support Squadron. Bases are situated in Turku and Kirkkonummi but the battleships operate around all Finnish territorial waters.

The Finnish, German, Norwegian and Swedish navies will rehearse anti-surface warfare and air defense off the Swedish south coast from 7 to 18 October 2024.

The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää will attend Exercise Sandy Coast in the North Sea from 18 August to 1 September 2023.

Coastal Fleet participates in the international mine countermeasures exercise Dynamic Move 2023 in Belgium from 23 January to 3 February.

The Finnish Navy’s Coastal Fleet is to participate in the international mine countermeasures exercise Dynamic Move 2024 in Belgium from 22 January to 2 February. Dynamic Move is an annual, command-post exercise, which is led by NATO Allied Maritime Command.

The Finnish Navy committed Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels MHC Katanpää and MHC Purunpää to the Nato Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool for 2022. Participating in the NATO Response Force, NRF, enhances the capability and interoperability of the Finnish Navy’s vessels and troops and its readiness to commit units to naval crisis management missions.

Captain (N) Sauli Rimmanen will assume the duties of Commander of the Coastal Fleet on 1 February 2025. Rimmanen will transfer to the task from Navy Command Finland where he has been serving as Chief of Staff. The change of command ceremony will be held at Pansio Base on 30 January 2025.

The Finnish Navy-led international naval exercise Freezing Winds 24 will end on Friday 29 November.

31.5.2024 | The naval mine countermeasures vessel MHC Vahterpää's nine-week period as part of Standing NATO Mine Counter Measures Group 1 will end on 31 May 2024, after which the vessel will return to Finland. 

28.12.2021 | The Navy commits a Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessel to the NATO Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool for 2022.

9.10.2020 | The Swedish Navy will have several vessels taking part in a mine countermeasures exercise led by the Coastal Fleet in the Archipelago Sea on 12–21 October 2020.

2.6.2023 | Finnish Navy’s Coastal Fleet participates in the exercise BALTOPS 23 3 - 17 June 2023 in the Baltic Sea. The exercise is led by the Commander of the US Navy’s 6th Fleet.

20.9.2022 | The Finnish Navy is exercising with the French mine countermeasures vessel Céphée in the Baltic Sea 22¬-23 September 2022 Afterwards the French vessel will moor in Turku until the 28th of September.

27.4.2020 | The Finnish Navy's Coastal Fleet is holding an International Mine Counter Measures Exercise on the Archipelago Sea 27-28 April 2020, with participants from the Finnish Navy’s 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron and from NATO's Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1.

22.10.2020 | A historical sea mine was found in the mine countermeasures exercise between the Finnish and the Swedish Navies in the Archipelago Sea and it was cleared on 21 October 2020.

1.6.2021 | The Navy will participate in the BALTOPS 2021 maritime exercise 4 - 18 June 2021 with two vessel in the Baltic Sea.

24.8.2020 | The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää will take part in the Sandy Coast 2020 exercise off the Belgian coast from 1 to 10 September alongside the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1. This is a multinational exercise led by Belgium with the objective of training mine countermeasures skills in a challenging maritime operating environment.

28.1.2019 | The Finnish Navy participates in the mine countermeasure warfare exercise Dynamic Move 2019 in Belgium from January 28 to February 8.

17.12.2020 | The year of the Navy’s Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels in the NATO Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool will come to an end on 31 December 2020. Nyland Brigade's coastal jaeger troops' period in the same pool will end at the same time.

6.10.2020 | The six-week NRF training period of the Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää alongside the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) is coming to an end, and the vessel will return to Finland on 6 October 2020.
