Lähialueiden ja Itämeren vakaus on tärkeää suomalaisten turvallisuudelle. Merivoimat tekee tiivistä yhteistyötä esimerkiksi Ruotsin kanssa.

Merivoimien johtama syksyn pääsotaharjoitus Freezing Winds 22 järjestetään 22.11.-2.12. Kansainväliseen merisotaharjoitukseen osallistuu joukkoja kaikista Puolustusvoimien puolustushaaroista sekä runsaasti kansainvälisiä kumppaneita.

1.7.2025 | Avoimessa kansainvälisessä meri-5-ottelun mestaruuskilpailussa saavutettiin hieno suomalaismenestys. Myös kilpailun järjestelyissä onnistuttiin hyvin, vaikka sää välillä haastoikin niin urheilijat kuin järjestäjätkin.

16.6.2025 | Avoin kansainvälinen meri-5-ottelun mestaruuskilpailu (Open Regional Military Championships in Naval Pentathlon) järjestetään tänä vuonna Suomessa, Upinniemen varuskunnassa 23.-28.6. Rannikkoprikaati vastaa kilpailun käytännön järjestelyistä. Lajin kattojärjestö International Military Sports Council CISM koordinoi kilpailuja ja valvoo sääntöjä.

Nordic Cadet Meeting (NOCA) will be held in Turku on 7-11 August 2024. NOCA is an annual sports and seminar event for naval cadets, organized by each Nordic country in alternate years.

A British type 45 destroyer HMS Diamond will arrive in Turku for a scheduled port visit from 18th to 22nd October 2023.

The American guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt visits Helsinki on the weekend.

Three Elbe class command and supply vessels of the German Navy, FGS Rhein, FGS Donau and FGS Werra, will arrive in Turku for a scheduled port visit on November 10-13 2023.

French Navy's Aquitane-class frigate FS Auvergne is to visit Helsinki from 24th to 27th June 2023.

Italian Navy’s FREMM -class frigate Antonio Marceglia is to visit Helsinki from 26th to 30th August 2023

The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 2024 environmental response exercise from 26 to 29 August 2024. The exercise is organized in Lithuania, in the port of Klaipeda and on the coast.

A United Stated Marine Corps unit will participate in the NATO-led Baltic Sentry mission, co-operating in Finland for about a month.

The Finnish Navy’s Coastal Fleet is to participate in the international mine countermeasures exercise Dynamic Move 2024 in Belgium from 22 January to 2 February. Dynamic Move is an annual, command-post exercise, which is led by NATO Allied Maritime Command.

The Coastal Fleet’s multipurpose vessel Louhi will take part in the multinational Balex Delta 22 environmental response exercise from 22 to 25 August 2022. The Exercise is organized in Germany, in the sea area off Warnemunde.

Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) will conduct a scheduled port visit in Helsinki arriving on 12 April with its flagship, the Spanish frigate ESPS Almirante Juan de Borbón and the German supply ship FGS Rhoen.

Coastal Fleet participates in the international mine countermeasures exercise Dynamic Move 2023 in Belgium from 23 January to 3 February.

The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää will attend Exercise Sandy Coast in the North Sea from 18 August to 1 September 2023.

Finland will receive a French Ally for a scheduled port visit. The French Navy’s minehunter FS Sagittaire will moor at port of Turku from October 4-7, 2024. The ship will not be open to the public.

The autumn’s main exercise Freezing Winds 22 to be led by the Finnish Navy will take place from 22 November -2 December 2022. Troops from the Finnish Navy, Army and Air Force as well as a great number of international partners will take part in this international naval exercise.

The Finnish Navy committed Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels MHC Katanpää and MHC Purunpää to the Nato Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool for 2022. Participating in the NATO Response Force, NRF, enhances the capability and interoperability of the Finnish Navy’s vessels and troops and its readiness to commit units to naval crisis management missions.
