Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) will conduct a scheduled port visit in Helsinki arriving on 12 April with its flagship, the Spanish frigate ESPS Almirante Juan de Borbón and the German supply ship FGS Rhoen.

The ships will not be open to public during their stay in Hernesaari port. Upon leaving from Helsinki, SNMG1 will conduct exercises with the Coastal Fleet. The visit is hosted by the Coastal Fleet.

Our current mission is to monitor all activities in the maritime domain in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, to provide deterrence and defence posture in this region and to grant assurance to NATO nations with shores in this region that NATO is here for their security. It is in this task, assurance to the Allied nations, that we are therefore present in the Baltic Sea and conduct port visits to allies during our stay. I look very much forward to visiting Helsinki, states RAdm Joaquin Ruiz Escagedo, Commander SNMG1.
