Merivoimien osallistuminen operaatio Prosperity Guardianiin päättyy

The Finnish Navy will end its participation in Operation Prosperity Guardian as planned on 19 February 2025.The Finnish contribution has been reinforced by two personnel who have been working as staff officers in Bahrain since April last year.

Operation Prosperity Guardian was launched in December 2023 in response to attacks on shipping in the Red Sea by Houthi rebels. The mission aims to maintain security and protect civilian vessels in the region. It is a US-led operation operating under the umbrella of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) coalition.

The Finnish Navy will continue its participation in Operation Aspides in the Red Sea and Operation Irini in the Mediterranean Sea, both led by the European Union.
