National anti-tank missile exercise to be held at Rovajärvi
The Army Academy -executed exercise Northern Spike 25 will be held during 8.–16.11.2025 at Rovajärvi range and training exercise area.
The key training objective of the exercise is to harmonise the Army training in anti-tank missiles and to ensure integrating the lessons identified and learned concerning the war in Ukraine in training settings. The exercise will have the units’ training level validated by the Army Academy. The exercise will be directed by Lieutenant Colonel Arro Jäntti.
”The lessons identified and learned over the past years on the war in Ukraine have not reduced the value of tanks on the battlefield, or the relevance of anti-tank measures in destroying tanks”, LTC Jäntti says.
”The anti-tank missile exercise’s training events, fires, and training level validation will combine the traditional, competent and high-quality anti-tank missile training in the most recent elements and phenomena on the battlefield under the demanding conditions of the North. In training level validation, the opposing element will be a main battle tank platoon reinforced by infantry which means that the observations will also develop armoured vehicle training. In all training events, service personnel and students contribute by sharing their competence, and assess the most recent tactics, techniques and procedures to inform training development”, LTC Jäntti continues.
The exercise will be participated by up to c. 200 personnel from the Army Academy, Jaeger Brigade, Kainuu Brigade, and Pori Brigade.
The exercise will not cause any significant traffic congestion.
