French Amphibious Assault Ship to Visit Helsinki

The French amphibious assault ship FS Mistral will arrive in Helsinki for a scheduled port visit from 27 to 30 June 2024.

The Mistral class LHD (Landing Dock Helicopter) will dock at Hernesaari. FS Mistral is a 199 m long and 32 m wide vessel with a loaded displacement of over 21 tons and it has a crew of 350. The home port of this vessel commissioned in 2004 is Toulon. 

The visit is a routine port visit. The Mistral participated in Exercise BALTOPS24, after which she has visited different ports, including Stockholm, Sweden. The port visits will further strengthen cooperation between Allies, and particularly between their navies. The Finnish Navy will train together with FS Mistral during the visit. 

The visit will be hosted by the Commander of the Coastal Brigade, Captain Johan Tillander.

The vessel berthing in Hernesaari will not be open for public during the visit.
