Core staff element of NATO’s Multi-Corps Land Component Command North West now includes two staff officers from the United Kingdom

The Multi-Corps Land Component Command North West (MCLCC-NW) now includes two staff officers from the United Kingdom.

At the Army Command in Mikkeli today on 30 June 2026, the Flag of the United Kingdom was hoisted to fly alongside the Colours of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the United States of America, and the Netherlands.

The MCLCC-NW is tasked to command and control the Alliance’s land forces and co-ordinate the operating of national land forces in the Northern region. This involves, among other, planning, preparing and leading relating to the Alliance’s joint training exercise and rehearsal activity.

The MCLCC-NW became operational on 1 September 2025. The core staff element comprises altogether 15 personnel from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the United States of America, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The personnel strength is to increase up to c. 50 in total over the next few years.
