30.6.2026 | The Finnish Ministry of Defence, the Estonian Defence Forces, and the European AI lab for Defence NestAI have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on 30 June 2026 to advance the development of artificial intelligence capabilities. 2.4.2026 | For several years, the Navy has been developing a comprehensive capability to produce virtual exercises to train soldiers with better skills. This time, the Navy is piloting a procedure exercise for the virtual training environment for trainees to practise situations involving damages on a vessel in a setting that simulates reality.

15.5.2019 | The Finnish Navy kicked off its Bold Quest 19.1 activities on Monday 13 May 2019. The Navy-related events of Bold Quest will be executed in the Navy Command and in the Coastal Fleet. In Bold Quest 19.1 the Finnish Navy will be developing and authenticating the interoperability and compatibility of information systems, and train in the use of fires as part of the Finnish Defence Forces’ joint fires and target acquisition process.

24.8.2017 | The exercise Northern Coasts (NOCO-17) will be arranged between 8 September and 21 September 2017 in Sweden. The exercise is the German navy´s international invitation exercise for NATO and EU countries, as well as for NATO partner nations. The exercise is led by Sweden and there will be 16 participating countries.

8.5.2017 | MTH-17 Lyydia is an exercise arranged annually by the Finnish Navy for its naval and coastal units. The exercise will be held in the Gulf of Finland from 22 May to 1 June 2017.

7.3.2016 | The Finnish Navy will participate in the Dynamic Move 16 Naval Mine Warfare exercise in Oostende in Belgium between March 7 and 18, 2016.

1.11.2018 | In NOCO18 exercise one of the training topics is the information exchange between military and merchant shipping through NCAGS (Naval Coordination and Guidance for Shipping) center. Safe and secure merchant shipping must be enabled even under high risk situations.
