In war and crisis situations, the Finnish Defence Forces needs an ability to dispose of explosives at the bottom of the sea and on the ground. These technically demanding and lengthy course entities are not ones that can be completed in a minimum of time, so the needed competence should already be available. The autumn’s main exercise Freezing Winds 23 led by the Finnish Navy will be held from 20 November to 1 December 2023. In addition to the Finnish Navy, troops from the Finnish Army and Air Force, the Swedish Navy and several Allies will participate in this international naval exercise. The Finnish Navy committed Katanpää-class mine countermeasures vessels MHC Katanpää and MHC Purunpää to the Nato Response Force’s Follow on Forces pool for 2022. Tavoitteena on parantaa yhteisoperointikykyä Naton jäsenmaiden välillä standardisoimalla yhteisiä doktriineja sekä niihin liittyvää terminologiaa. 12.5.2026 | Försvarsalliansen Natos gemensamma operativa doktrinverkstad arrangeras för första gången i Helsingfors den 12–14 maj 2026. Målet är att förbättra interoperabiliteten mellan Natos medlemsländer genom att standardisera gemensamma doktriner samt den tillhörande terminologin.
