The anniversary of the Finnish Navy
The anniversary of the Navy is celebrated annually on 9 July. The date is based on the second naval battle of Ruotsinsalmi, which took place on 9-10 July 1790 between the Swedish and Russian navies.
In 2026, the Navy's anniversary will be celebrated without an extensive public event, the Navy will mark the anniversary, for example, with a wreath-laying ceremony in Turku. Also content will be produced on the Navy's social media channels throughout the week.
