United States Navy’s Vessel Visits Helsinki
Finland is honored to receive an international Ally for a port visit. The United States Navy’s guided-missile cruiser, USS Normandy, will moor at Hernesaari port in Helsinki on September 19, 2024. The vessel will not be open to the public.
Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy is 173 meters long and 16,8 meters wide. She is specialized in air defense, anti-surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. The ship can house a crew complement of 350. The vessel’s homeport is in Norfolk, Virginia.
The visit is a routine visit, during which the USS Normandy will receive maintenance and food and fuel replenishments. The vessel will also exercise with the Finnish Navy.
The visit will be hosted by the Commander of the Coastal Fleet, Captain (Navy) Patrik Lillqvist. The hosting squadron will be 7th Surface Warfare Squadron of the Coastal Fleet.
