Guard Jaeger Regiment to train in the Helsinki metropolitan area 24–28 May 2026
The Guard Jaeger Regiment will train with other authorities in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa on 24–28 May 2026.
There will be 24/7 activity related to exercise Uusimaa 2026 both in the field and urban areas in buildings that are reserved for the exercise.
The exercise units consist of soldiers and other authorities moving in combat gear at and near the exercise locations on foot and by military vehicles. Individuals participating in target activity can wear civilian clothing and they are marked with orange tags. Practice munitions are used in the exercise mainly inside buildings that are reserved for the exercise.
Commander of the Guards Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Antti Montonen leads the exercise. Approximately 300 people including conscripts, regular personnel and reservists will participate in the exercise. The aim of the exercise is to assess the competence of the conscript leaders who are mustering out in June and to enhance the performance of the entire unit.

24–25 May 2026
- Helsinki: Maununneva, Oulunkylä, Käpylä ja Pakila
- The Defence Forces will be exercising 24 – 25 May in Helsinki in the following areas: Maununneva and Oulunkylä (24 May 12:00 – 25 May 22:00), Käpylä (24 May 12:00 – 25 May 07:00) and Pakila (24 May 16:00 – 25 May 06:00). Training ammunition will be used mainly indoors in a built-up area. The exercise causes noise.

- Kivikko, Helsinki
Finnish Defence Forces will be exercising in the Kivikko Outdoor Park area on 25 May 2026 between 15:00 - 21:00 hours. Practice ammunition is used in the exercise. There are a lot of soldiers moving around in the area. The exercise causes noise.

Finnish Defence Forces will be exercising in the Annala/Vanhakaupunki area on 16 May 2026 between 08:00 - 22:00 hours. Practice ammunition is used indoors in the exercise. There are soldiers and military vehicles moving around the area. The exercise causes noise.

27.-27 May 2026
- Helsinki: Pasila ja Ruskeasuo
Finnish Defence Forces will be exercising in Helsinki in the following areas: Pasila and Ruskeasuo on 27 May 2026 between 10:00 - 17:00 hours. There are soldiers and military vehicles moving around the area. Training ammunition will be used outdoors, with which the shooting is momentary and thus does not restrict movement in the area to a greater extent. Trainers will isolate the areas where the training ammunition is used. The exercise causes noise.
