  1. Coastal Fleet consists of Headquarters and four squadrons: 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron, 6th and 7th Surface Warfare Squadrons and 8th Service Support Squadron. Bases are situated in Turku and Kirkkonummi but the battleships operate around all Finnish territorial waters.

The Finnish Defence Forces will deploy staff officers to the European Union’s Naval Force EUNAVFOR Operation Aspides established in February 2024, and to the US-led Operation Prosperity Guardian launched in December 2023, both of them active in the Red Sea and its adjacent areas. The objective of the operations is to secure free and safe navigation in the Red Sea.

  6. 10.12.2020 | Finland and Sweden held a combined maritime-surveillance-cooperation exercise at the entrance of the Gulf of Finland 8–9 December 2020. The bilateral exercise developed interoperability between the Finnish and Swedish navies in the areas of maritime surveillance and sharing Recognised Maritime Picture.

  8. 20.5.2019 | The main exercise of this spring for the Finnish Navy, maritime warfare exercise Silja is to be conducted from 27th May to 7th June. The main areas of exercise include Archipelago Sea, Gulf of Finland, Northern Baltic Sea and the coastal areas of Uusimaa region.
