The Finnish Navy has three statutory tasks related to the military defence of Finland: the surveillance of our territorial waters, repelling of territorial violations and maritime attacks, and protecting sea lines of communication.

The Finnish Navy-led autumn main exercise Freezing Winds 25 will be held in southern Finland, the Archipelago Sea, and the Gulf of Finland from November 24 to December 4, 2025.
The Navy Squadron 2020 project will replace some of the Navy’s vessels currently in service with Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvettes. These multi-role corvettes will constitute the backbone of our country’s naval defence.
