6.2.2026 | The Coastal Fleet’s annual winter operations exercise LUMIUKKO26 will be conducted in the Gulf of Finland and the Archipelago Sea from 6 to 12 February 2026. Winter operations are key parts of the Coastal Fleet’s activities.

8.5.2017 | MTH-17 Lyydia is an exercise arranged annually by the Finnish Navy for its naval and coastal units. The exercise will be held in the Gulf of Finland from 22 May to 1 June 2017.

8.4.2016 | The Navy has released a new video called “The Navy guarantees the security of Finland - naval operations”, which sheds light on the role and the tasks of the Navy to the public.

5.6.2024 | The Finnish Navy will participate in exercise BALTOPS24 organized in the Baltic Sea from 5 to 20 June with vessels, coastal troops and staff officers on different command echelons. Troops from 17 countries will be involved in the exercise the total strength being some 6600 soldiers. Of these, the number of Finnish soldiers will be 330 at most.

31.5.2024 | The naval mine countermeasures vessel MHC Vahterpää's nine-week period as part of Standing NATO Mine Counter Measures Group 1 will end on 31 May 2024, after which the vessel will return to Finland. 

24.1.2020 | Finnish Navy participates in the exercise Dynamic Move 20 Jan 27 - Feb 7 2020 in Belgium with staff officers from Coastal Fleet’s 4th Mine Countermeasures Squadron.

11.9.2020 | Coastal Fleet’s Minelayer Uusimaa will take part in the Sea Surveillance Exercise led by the Swedish Navy 14 - 16.9.2020. The exercise takes place in the archipelago off Stockholm and in the Northern Baltic Sea.

21.9.2020 | The Coastal Fleet’s mine countermeasures vessel Vahterpää continues the autumn NRF training period alongside the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) in the Baltic Sea until the 4 October before returning to Finland.

25.8.2020 | Minelayer Uusimaa will participate in the Swedish Navy’s anti-aircraft exercise in the Baltic Sea from 25 to 27 August 2020.

9.9.2020 | Two of the Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) frigates are to visit Turku from 10 to 14 September.

6.10.2016 | The Finnish Navy will exercise with Estonia in the Archipelago Sea and in the Gulf of Finland between 10 October and 14 October 2016.

24.10.2016 | The exercise Meripuolustusharjoitus 2016, MEPU16, is the Finnish Navy's main war exercise and the most important operational exercise in 2016.

22.9.2016 | FNS Uusimaa will participate in the Noble Mariner 16 exercise in October. The exercise is held in Irish and British territorial waters. A great part of the exercise troops will consist of reservists. During the exercise the vessel will undergo a NATO Evaluation Level 2 (NEL2).

25.4.2016 | The cooperation between the Finnish and Swedish naval forces is being developed every year in a joint naval exercise. This year the SWEFINEX will be hosted by the Swedish Navy and it will take place in the waters around Gotland during the period 16–24 May 2016.

18.11.2016 | Finnish Navy's main war exercise in 2016 is now completed. During the two weeks long exercise, the tasks of the Navy were put to the test, and tasks such as leadership, the use of fires and cooperation between the branches, as well as with other authorities were exercised.

21.9.2016 | The Finnish Navy will participate in the Emerald Move 16 (ERMO16) exercise in Italy in September and October.

28.10.2016 | At the end of the month, the Finnish Navy's Boarding Team's third, and at the same time final rotation will return to Finland from EUNAVFORMED operation SOFIA in the Mediterranean.

26.4.2016 | Finland's unique coastal areas offer excellent circumstances for exercising naval interoperability during the BALTOPS exercise. The interoperability of ships and coastal units will be put to the test during the BALTOPS16 exercise, which starts in June at the exercise area in Syndalen.
