The Commander of the Finnish Navy will participate in trilateral negotiations in the United States

The Commander of the Finnish Navy, Commodore Jori Harju, will visit the U.S. Second Fleet on the invitation of the Fleet’s Commander, Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis in Norfolk 11-14 August 2019.

The visit will take place at the same time with that of the Chief of the Royal Swedish Navy, Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist. The cooperation between Finland, Sweden and the U.S. Second Fleet will be discussed during the visit. The visit will also include bilateral discussions with the Second Fleet.

- The discussions will focus on combined training and exchange of information, Commodore Harju states in relation to the coming visit.

The visit and trilateral negotiations will be carried out in the spirit of the Statement of Intent issued on 8 May 2018 by the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ministries of Defence of Finland and Sweden.

In Norfolk, the Commander of the Finnish Navy will also visit the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) Headquarters and the Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFCNF) Headquarters and meet the leadership of these organisations.
